Threshold is a one-of-one wearable work constructed from wood and metal hardware. Repeated carved forms move inward from opposing sides, meeting around the body in a continuous sequence. The resulting structure shifts between adornment and sculpture.
The work's scale, repetition, and vivid color give it an assertive physical presence, while the individual wooden elements retain the irregularity and material character of the hand-made object. The forms approach one another from opposite directions, creating a sense of movement and convergence within the composition.
Worn against the body, the forms become part of a larger composition—one that changes with movement, position, and the wearer.
As with many KAMILLEON works, the object occupies a space between categories. It can be approached as something to wear, but it is not limited to the conventions of jewelry. The wearer activates the work, bringing its sculptural form into relationship with the body and making each encounter its own composition.
