ABOUT
Kamilleon is a material-based artist whose process-driven work explores transformation, impermanence, pattern, and the shifting relationship between material, form, and meaning.
For a decade, the artist devoted their professional practice to developing artistic talent in twice-exceptional individuals. In 2020, Kamilleon returned to the studio, bringing sustained attention to perception, process, and emergence back into their own making.
The work that followed was kept private—developed outside the expectations of an audience, exhibition, or market. It became a sustained investigation into what materials can do, what they can become, and what can emerge through the act of making.
Kamilleon is now emerging publicly as an artist.
Working across fiber, clay, wood, metal, paper, paint, and fire, the practice is intentionally open to transformation. Materials are woven, accumulated, altered, unraveled, burned, broken, reassembled, and combined. Process remains visible—not as documentation of how a work was made, but as an essential part of what the work is.
The practice is existential and autotelic: the making is both investigation and destination. A work does not begin with the requirement to arrive somewhere predetermined. It develops through sustained attention, experimentation, contingency, and response.
No thing is one thing.
THE NAME
Kamilleon is a name built around change.
Ka — soul.
Mill — churn, the continual movement of transformation.
Eon — what extends beyond the immediate moment; what may endure.
The spelling also carries the sound of chameleon—something continually changing, adapting, and becoming.
