Fieldwork

$795.00

Fieldwork is a one-of-one textile work constructed from an accumulation of yarns, colors, textures, and hand-worked surfaces. Its modular composition brings contrasting fields into relationship, transforming fiber into a sculptural object that occupies the space between textile, furniture, and abstract form.

The yarns come from the same ancestral collection that informs other KAMILLEON works, gathered and preserved across three generations of women in the artist's family through their travels. Here, those materials are brought out of storage and into daily life, allowing their accumulated color, texture, and history to be experienced rather than kept apart.

The work is designed to be lived with. Its substantial, low form can serve as floor seating, a place for meditation or gathering, a resting surface, or simply a sculptural presence within a room.

Rather than separating utility from art, Fieldwork allows the two to coexist. The object's usefulness becomes part of its experience, while its layered surface invites attention as a composition in its own right.

The juxtaposition of yarns—different in texture, color, weight, and character—creates a visual language of contrast and connection. Individual fields remain distinct while contributing to a larger whole.

As with many KAMILLEON works, the owner participates in determining what the object becomes within a space. It can be approached as seating, textile, sculpture, or some combination of all three.

Each KAMILLEON work is made individually; no work is replicated.

Materials: Assorted yarns from the artist's ancestral collection, including cotton and novelty yarns

Technique: Hand-crocheted and hand-constructed textile work

Dimensions: 24 in. × 24 in. × 6 1/2 in.

Quantity: 1
