Common Ground is a one-of-one textile work inspired by global travel, Eastern traditions of floor-based gathering and meditation, and Western approaches to comfort, luxury, and shared space.
Its form invites many possibilities: a place for meditation, low table sitting, additional seating for a gathering, a luxurious resting place for a companion animal, or simply a substantial textile object within a room. Its function is deliberately open.
The work carries a personal material history spanning three generations of women who traveled the world. Much of the yarn was gathered and preserved by the artist's grandmother. Rather than keeping these materials sealed away as objects of memory, Common Ground brings them into daily life—making their color, texture, history, and accumulated beauty visible and available to touch.
Every kind of yarn seems to find a place within the work. Different weights, textures, colors, origins, and histories are brought together through juxtaposition rather than uniformity. The resulting surface reflects a central KAMILLEON impulse: that unexpected materials and experiences can become more compelling when they are allowed to exist together.
With Moroccan influence and ancestral fibers meeting contemporary use, Common Ground moves between artwork and utility, inheritance and invention, decoration and participation.
The owner determines how the work enters their space and how it is lived with.
Each KAMILLEON work is made individually; no work is replicated.
